We are
always looking for volunteers to help with the service. If you can spare a
little of your time then we would be pleased to welcome you to the group.
Help to
fundraise.
As you
might have guessed the service cannot run without the money raised by our
members, company donations, anonymous donations and of course you the generous
general public. Fundraising is perhaps the most important thing that we do.
From shaking a tin to visiting big business to ask for sponsorship. At £8,500
to run a bike for a year the fundraising never stops.
Coordinating
Coordinators
are a crucial component in our system. As a coordinator you take calls from
hospitals and then relay the relevant information on to the duty rider for
him/her to be able complete the task. Calls can come in from 18:00 till 05:00
the next morning, a bulk of the work is in the early evening so don't worry;
you won’t lose very much sleep!
Rider
Riders
retain the bike at home for a week whilst on duty, during which time he/she is
responsible for any job that is called in 19:00 - 06:00 and all day at the
weekend. It is essential that you have somewhere safe to store the bike and be
willing to drive through all weathers (except snow and ice, at your
discretion). Before commencing as a duty rider we provide a preliminary check
ride and induction on our motorcycle and its related equipment which includes
Sat Nav with standard routes.
Riders are expected to behave
as responsible and courteous other road users. Riders must wear a custom
made Hi Vis jacket with an ID tag plus suitable safety clothing
